As you breathe them in, I’ll make sure you always remember how this moment feels..
There’s nothing quite like the wave of emotions that washes over you when a tiny human arrives and embarks on their first year of life. It’s a time filled with overwhelming love, tenderness, and vulnerability, demanding our full presence and connection in the moment.
This is precisely why photography holds such significance.
It offers a chance to capture the beauty of these precious first days and preserve them forever. Every baby I photograph is treated with the utmost care, as I strive to infuse your images with the same tenderness and honesty that defines your relationship with your tiniest love. My goal is to capture the authenticity and genuine beauty of this experience, just for you.
Let’s create a timeless record of this journey, one that celebrates the uncomplicated innocence of your little one and the depth of your love.

Scheduling for Newborn Sessions

One a day.
I only book in one session a day to ensure there is plenty of time to get all the photos but also
time for feeding and cuddling whenever baby needs.
Sessions are baby led - meaning we take breaks when baby needs snuggles or feeding.

Newborns are best in the mornings.
Babies under two weeks are scheduled around 10 a.m. Babies over 2 weeks are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Babies 4-6 weeks are scheduled at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.
I have learned from experience that newborns in the afternoon or early evening are generally not as comfortable and therefore I do not photograph newborns at this time.

Newborn scheduling is ideally done in advance.
However, I accommodate new bookings and will do my best to get you in for your newborn.
When you do book in advance, I book you the week of your due date. I ask that you call, text or email within a 48 hours of giving birth with newborn stats and we can lock down a day for your session.
My wish is always for healthy wonderful deliveries; however, I know that complications or postpartum recovery delays do happen and do my best to accomodate.
Email information about your delivery:
- Date/time baby was born
- Weight of baby
- Name (if known)
I would love to know that everything with your delivery/postpartum went according to plan. I would like to know if there are issues such as jaundice, NICU time, extended hospital stay or any other issues regarding the health of your baby. Knowing these items is so important to help me schedule your session in a timely manner.

When to schedule your newborn session:
Sessions anywhere from 7-12 days after birth. The timeframe usually varies based on the baby weight and progression. A baby born around 5-6 lbs may be scheduled around the 14th day, whereas a baby born 7-8 or 9 lbs may be scheduled around 8-12 days. I do suggest newborns be scheduled within the first two weeks.

They are newborn for 6 weeks
As a newborn progresses in development the bones harden and they tend to "uncurl" and stretch out more. A newborn photo session can successfully be achieved at any of these weeks with special care and prep. This guide should help in providing this information, for newborns of any age.

Every session includes:
- A full session according to your chosen package (see below)
- Use of any/all wraps, blankets, and little outfits in studio closet
- Several set ups or as many as baby allows. Every session starts with my soft white set and final set up is my black for "womb" pose. In between these two sets, we can do a colour of your choosing.
- A private online gallery

FAQ

When should my newborn be photographed?
All of my newborns are photographed at around one week of age (ideally between 7 and 12 days) in order to get the very best out of your session, and to achieve the results you see in my portfolio. Any parent will tell you how quickly your little one will grow in those first couple of weeks, so it's essential that we capture them as early as we can.
How long does a typical newborn session last?
I always take my time with newborns. I will never rush a session and take as much time as needed, allowing your baby to be my guide. Newborn sessions can typically sometimes take hours to complete. My aim is to have you feeling completely relaxed and enjoy every moment of your session without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Newborn sessions (6-10 days old) tend to average 120 - 180 minutes.
How long does it take to receive the final edited photos?
I understand the anticipation of seeing your final photos. My editing process typically 2-3 weeks, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of editing required. I prioritize quality and attention to detail to deliver exceptional images that exceed your expectations.
Where is the newborn photography session held?
My natural light studio is located 30-35 minutes west of Medicine Hat, in Bow Island. The images you see in my galleries are all taken in my studio.
When should I book a newborn session?
In order to make sure that you secure a booking for your newborn (I like to photograph newborns around one week of age), it is very important to contact me to reserve a date while you are still pregnant. As my studio typically books up a couple months in advance, please book early to avoid disappointment.
What is your style?
Honest, natural and minimalist. My aim during sessions is to connect with those qualities in each and every baby I have the pleasure to capture. For that reason, I am totally baby-led during sessions. Your baby is my guide. A session is more than simply taking photos of what I see. I want to create beautiful images from what I feel.
How do I book a session with you?
Booking a photography session is easy. Simply reach out to me through my website, email, or phone. I will guide you through the process and find a convenient date and time for your session.
"......for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
